Up up and away...

We made it! We are in England!

"Is Mom talking to herself again?"  the airplanes outside the window seemed to be much more interesting.
We arrived at the airport three hours early, instead of two and I must say, it was our quickest, most straightforward experience at an airport, ever. We walked straight up to the desk to check our bags, not one person in line in front of us. We went almost as quickly through security and then we had almost three hours to kill, as our flight was slightly delayed.

Just call her crazy-hands-Bryttain - exciting stuff!

Of course an airport is like a playground for kids. Elevators and escalators, the moving walkways, crazy hand dryers in the bathrooms, planes to watch and all rolled up with the anticipation and excitement of actually getting on a plane and going somewhere fun. As we were in line to actually board the plane, Bryttain was standing there, huge smile on her face, doing a silent scream. It was too cute. Her body, her face were full-on screaming, but she knew how unacceptable that would be, so she mimed instead, I could not help but beam with her.

Finally on the plane, then in pjs for dinner.

Once on the plane we had a couple of rounds of musical chairs before everyone was settled. The kids got into their pjs and as I started encouraging them to settle down for the night, that is when food appeared. We had already eaten, but they were too excited to sleep and all nibbled at their meals. It was WAY too late before they actually fell asleep, but they did eventually. All too soon, breakfast was being brought around (which no one ate) and then it was time to get ready for landing.

The kids loved having their own personal tv screens. Asia was too cute holding the adult-sized headphones in place.
It was pretty turbulent and all of a sudden Bryttain, three seats away from me, looked at me wide-eyed and told me she thought she was going to throw up. I tried to get James' attention and as he hunted for a sick bag and then struggled to open the stupid thing, she threw up on herself, her seat then finally the bag under her chin. I felt so bad! Then Asia told me she thought she would be sick and started gagging and it was my turn to frantically hunt for anything to catch it in! It was gross and we were all trapped with the seat belt sign 'on', Bryttain sitting in her vomit as we circled, waiting for clearance to land. (Turns out there had been a security threat). Far from ideal!

We made it, all our luggage made it, Aunty Caridad made it. We are here - Heathrow Terminal 5!
Eventually we walked through the customs doors at Heathrow, only to find we had no one waiting to meet us, even though we were an hour late. Turns out the airport had been evacuated and incoming cars had been diverted for an hour. Finally Aunty Caridad and Uncle Wesley appeared, like knights in shining armor.

Thus our adventure begins...
