Sibling Love

We went to a friend's birthday party this weekend and I love this photo of Arran and Asia together. It really says so much about their relationship. You can tell that he is rather fed up with her blowing that thing in his face, but he is so good natured and puts up with a lot, because he does adore his little sister. On her face is pure mischief and joy, she just loves to get a reaction, yet at the same time it is about just being with him and spending time with him.

So for the month of February, my friend Amy and I (and anyone else who wants to join in with us and is up for a challenge) are going to photograph and blog our kids (or something) every day. At least that is the plan...it is going to be a busy month and it may be hard, but we are determined.

A break in the rain

It feels like it has been raining for months. The reality is, that it has not, of course, but I am more than ready for it to stop. It effects my mood in so many ways. When I awake to rain, to grayness, I immediately feel a little lower. I need some sun in my life. As much as I dislike the cold, as long as it comes with bright sunshine, everything is so much better. Then on top of my dampened mood is the prospect of not being able to let the kids run around outside, not being able to take them to the park to burn off all that energy and if I am not careful, things can quickly spiral downwards. If it is only a day or so, that is one thing, but weeks like this and we are all more than a little stir-crazy. I have barely picked up my camera, the house is a disaster and everyone is ready for a break.

Earlier in the week, James came home a little earlier than usual and the rain stopped so we had to make a run for it, we just had to get out. We did not go incredibly far, we loaded up the bikes and went to check out a local trail, which turned out to not be bike friendly, so we turned back around and headed to Arran's school.

They whizzed around on their bikes to their little hearts' content, then played for a while on the playground, before it was time to head home for dinner. They were so happy and I was happy for them, glad for the reprieve and hopefully a little better equipped to handle the next day.

Spring is just around the corner...spring is just around the corner...right?!

Ballet Portraits

We finally received the disc from the photographer who took Brtyttain's ballet portraits the other week. They are so not my style, but Arran had had his school photos done and it was worth capturing this time in her life and how special her ballet is for her. I love my little girl and it blesses me to see her enjoying something so much. Thought I would share a few of them (and yes I do have permission from the photographer). Enjoy!

And one with her cousin Michaelanne - for any in Texas :)

It's all over now

We took our Christmas tree down on Saturday and Arran cried! He was so sad that it had to go and just could not control his emotions. My poor, sweet, sensitive boy, I love him so much!
